Root Canal Therapy
Teeth that are painful, extensively damaged due to decay, fractures or trauma may need Root Canal Therapy in order to alleviate the pain and preserve the tooth.
Before commencing Root Canal Treatment, we will assess the tooth to decide if it is appropriate to carry out this treatment and discuss the options with you. If Root Canal Treatment is undertaken, the tooth will first be cleaned and restored with a temporary restoration so that you may continue to use this tooth while it is being treated. Some medication will also be placed in this tooth to alleviate pain.
In the next appointment, the tooth length will be measured and the internal aspect of the tooth is disinfected. A new dressing will be placed to ensure that the tooth remains asymptomatic.
In the final stage, the tooth will be completely filled from within and a final filling will be placed over the tooth. In some cases, the tooth is quite fragile and a
Dental Crown will be recommended to prevent further damage to the tooth.
